Tent Stitch

Some designs are still worked best in good old tent stitch.  Like this charming purse -- tent stitch and wool create a strong, durable fabric and let the design speak for itself.

When working tent stitch, you should always use the basketweave method of stitching.

Remember to "read" your canvas and work your basketweave with the grain. The diagrams below show the different beginnings of basketweave areas depending on whether the first thread is horizontal (left diagram) or vertical (right diagram).
