Pattern Darning

Pattern Darning is a wonderful technique to use for the background when you want a look that is light and open.  An added bonus is that these stitches are also quick and easy!

The background of this "mother of the groom purse" is done in a simple darning pattern.

We used one strand of Watercolours for a subtle color variation. 

First work all the vertical rows, then the horizontal ones.  Note that all stitches are worked as running stitches.
